Ayurvedic medicine - or Ayurveda, meaning the Knowledge of Life - is one of the most ancient treatment systems and is used today by millions of people. It is a complete healthcare system and utilizes detoxification, diet, exercise, herbal remedies and other techniques to improve physical, mental and emotional health.
The central concept of Ayurvedic Medicine is the theory that health exists only when there is a balance between the three fundamental bodily forces, or doshas: wind (vata), choler (pitta) and phlegm (kapha). It is believed that each dosha has its own qualities and functions in relation to the body. The balance between these doshas determines individual constitution (prakriti) and predisposition to disease.
Typically, an Ayurvedic practitioner will conduct a detailed examination, before conducting treatment that aims to restore the balance of the doshas. Treatment aims to work with your body, rather than to change it and ranges from the use of herbal medicines, to Abhyanga and manipulation. Dietary and lifestyle advice, as well as yoga exercises, are also employed.

The pathology/cytology service includes tissue and frozen sections; immuno and special stains; fine needle aspirates; and pap smears including liquid based cytology.
Using the latest equipment and technologies, operated by skilled technologists we generate over a quarter of a million test results each year. Our services encompass biochemistry, hematology, transfusion medicine, microbiology, histology, and cytology. Tests not handled in house are outsourced to accredited laboratories.
Testing is not limited to Alchemist Hospital patients, as we provide services for external clinics and laboratories; and community based and overseas physicians. With a physicians requisition we will process your test requests and forward the results to your clinician.

The pharmacy staff will provide excellence in Pharmaceutical Care at a level of that meets the needs and expectations of our patients in such a manner as to promote their health and well-being and to assure that the performance of duties and responsibilities involved in the Drug use control process are in accordance with relevant laws, rules & regulations.
The pharmacy department provides comprehensive pharmacy services to all areas of the hospital, including all ambulatory care areas, where patients are treated with medications. Comprehensive services include purchasing, stocking and dispensing of all drug products, evaluation of medication use and dosing on an individual basis for each patient, consultation with the physician regarding appropriate plan of care regarding drug use, family and patient education and counseling, discharge planning, implementing and helping to evaluate cost containment or drug therapy initiatives and the management of drug formulary of the Pharmacy Committee.
Monthly quality assurance checks of all drug storage areas in the hospital are performed including but not limited to drug dating, refrigeration storage and emergency drug supplies. The department also exercises all authority for maintaining control of drug products which are regulated by governmental agencies or are being used in humans in an investigational protocol. The Out Patient pharmacy (OPD) provides outpatient prescription services to ambulatory patients who receive their medical care at AHL or employees and their immediate families.
